Student Zone

"This is a rather full-on song about being a student, the lifestyle and mess that you live with. It has been described as 'Gothic Garage' although I think it sounds more alternative/Elastica than anything. I wrote this song whilst sitting in front of the tv watching The Young Ones. It's loosely based on that show and also on a house rented by four guys I know." It took her about 10 mins to write, and was recorded in the fastest time yet, about 12 hours from start to finish!

Lyrics

Dark damp house
Messy as hell
A bomb must have hit
And then there's the smell
Noodles for dinner
Beer to wash it down
Sheets on the windows
Mattress on the ground

(Chorus)
Welcome to the student zone
A place to have fun
Enjoy it while you can
One day you'll have to work

Dishes in the sink
Piled very high
The biohazard fridge
A half eaten pie
Poverty is a standard
No-one has a cent
Late nights and early mornings
Scrape to pay the rent

(Repeat Chorus)

Parties are common
Water fights indoors
Beer by the keg
Pizza on the floor
Stereo playing rock
Bass thumping hard
Corpses on the floor
And others playing cards

(Repeat Chorus)
