Listen to the Ocean
 |
"This was the very first song I wrote, so it is kind of special to me.
I wrote it when I was feeling homesick in London, and dreamed I was on
the beach." The beach in question is Mullaloo Beach, in Perth, Australia. Both
the lyrics and the melody were written by herself in about 10 mins. She
attempted this song twice before, but never got a result she was happy with.
The third version (this one) is definately the best one, and is probably the best track she has recorded so far. This one was completed in two 8 hr recording
sessions with Pete at Camden Studios.

Lyrics
The beach at night is a beautiful place
As I lean back and look into space
I sink my toes into the cool sand
And feel the grains under my hand
(Chorus)
Its the place I escape to in my head
I go there when I feel like lead
'Cos when the ocean calls my name
I can feel no more pain
Listen to the Ocean
The waves will crash around me
On my stretch of sandy beach
I love the ocean touching my toes
Here, where no one else goes
(Repeat Chorus)
A warm breeze lifts my hair
Messes it up but I don't care
I grab a shell and put it to my ear
The sound of the ocean is all I can hear
(Repeat Chorus)
Listen to the Ocean (Repeat to fade)
