A Man's World

"This is a rock chick song halfway between Mel C and Alanis Morissette. It has a slight 80s feel, and the minimal production creates the right effect. This song is about the experiences I have had being a girl in the IT industry." Both the lyrics and the melody were written by herself in about 10 mins. This track took two 8 hr sessions to record, and was recorded on 12 track equipment.

Lyrics

I have learned to have a hard shell
And to give as good as I get
Drowning in their testosterone
I refuse to be their pet

I'm around them every day
Their match they have met
I can guess what they are thinking
Do they consider me a threat

(Chorus)
I am their mother I am their mistress
I am their tea-lady and their intellectual equal
I'm just a girl in a man's world
I'm just a girl in a man's world

They constantly pummel me
In the great battle of wit
I'd like to be accepted
Instead of given so much shit

(Repeat Chorus)

I am their victim, I am their prize
In the sordid battle of words
They hunt and they stalk me
In their powerful male herd

(Repeat Chorus)

They think there's safety in numbers
With my mind sharp as a pin
I can overcome their collective strength
I know I can win

(Repeat Chorus) x 3
